Hi, I'm Eleanor, a first-year interactive media student at the University of Miami. I'm passionate about creativity, storytelling, and crafting interactive experiences. My double minor in computer science and film (screenwriting track) complements my love for merging technology with narrative. I'm driven to create engaging and playful interactive displays for people to enjoy.
MY STORY START -> NOW
I started coding on and off ever since I was a kid. I knew that code existed and could write a few lines but never contextualize it or apply it to anything. Despite initial curiosity, I eventually shifted my focus away from pursuing a coding career and explored other interests like art and video editing.
I took my first serious coding class in junior high school, APCSA. Most of the kids in my class had prior experience or seemed to grasp the concept faster than I was. I was constantly stressed but kept persevering. Despite my hard work, I still got a B on my exam. Over the summer, I signed up for two different coding campuses. One was dedicated to girls interested in coding, and it inspired me to continue. But I was still hesitant
I applied to universities offering computer science programs and stumbled upon the interactive media department at my current university. Before even setting foot on campus, I proactively reached out to advisors and departments, requesting a major switch. Now, I'm immersed in classes ranging from website creation to video game coding, delving into UX/UI, and exploring technology beyond conventional realms. While I still face challenges, each project allows me to apply newfound knowledge and witness the tangible results of my efforts.
